Our Living Room Update

While being stuck in your house for days on end, you start to dream of things you would like to change. I happen to be one of those people who will obsess and dwell on something until it happens (sorry Bryson), so we decided to add some built-in shelves in our living room.

While in the process, we added some wall sconces to above the couch, too! I had been wanting to do that for a while because Owen is at the age where he wants to pull on everything, and so we got rid of our lamps and end tables back at the beginning of quarantine. We also moved our TV upstairs when we were staying home because Owen doesn't really watch any shows, and we are comfier in our own bed while watching it.

We built the cabinets ourselves (Bryson did - I did not), and he made up the measurements by using our space. I already had these lamps, and I knew they would be the perfect ones on top of the shelves. I knew that one shelf would be our books, and then one would be Owen's bookshelf and toy shelf. We decorated with some of his favorite toys, and then we used our Ikea baskets at the bottoms for the toys we didn't want to display all the time.

For the wall above our couch, we decided to keep just 6 photos in rows of 3 for now. I had debated on whether or not to add a fourth photo to each row, but I was afraid the wall would be too crowded. I got our frames from Target, and I get our professional pictures printed from Mpix

I knew I wanted to add wall sconces, but I had a hard time deciding on the right ones. I finally decided on these and after one set was broken and had to return them, I got the new ones installed this weekend. They turned out so cute! We had to move our couch just a tad and move the pictures over.

Our rug is from Rugs USA, and I'm not completely sold on it. We've had it for a little bit, but I honestly don't love it (So, if you love it and local, let me know...I might sell it to you)! If you have any other questions about our living room, send me a message! I'd love to answer any questions you might have!
